For sale is a Clausing 5914 variable-speed lathe. I purchased it about 10 years ago from another gentleman in Los Angeles who had it as his hobby lathe. It's been my hobby lathe since then. As you can tell. This lathe is extremely clean, and comes with a lot of tooling. The lathe is functionally excellent. The ways are clean, without any rust, and the cross slide and compound are smooth. The variable speed drive is in great shape and problem free. The lamp works, and the motor is in original configuration of 220V, 3 phase. This 5914 is equipped with the clutch and threading dial as well, so it's a very ideal setup for a hobbyist who wants the most capability out of a 5914. It is a very tight machine. A working CNC lathe that I took the turret off to install a new turret bushing(it wobbled when indexing) I have all parts to reassemble except the bushing which I was going to make myself. It has a Fanuc 6T control which has a limited memory(can be increased) holds about 5-6 programs. I use the RS232 port to up down load programs. American Pacemaker Lathe 20"x54"
I think this was a fairly highly optioned machine and it works very well. I am pretty sure this has a 30hp motor that is currently wired for 220V/3 phase. But it can do 440V/3 phase. It can do as few as 17 RPM and tops out at 1000 RPM. The ways look great. Send me a message if you want to take a look. From a little searching around this machine is between 9000 and 11000 pounds. YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO LOAD AND UNLOAD THIS MACHINE. I know of a local rigging company that moves things much cheaper than most local riggers.

Up for auction is this Sheldon Lower Partial Headstock unit. This is from an early 1940.S machine. Included in this lot is the Housing, Bull Gear, Spindle Pully, and Spindle Gears,Headstock shaft, Brass Races, and Spacers. All that is shown in the picture will be shipped. Everything is in good condition and shows normal wear for the period, except the bull gear has 1 chipped tooth and a couple nicked teeth next to it. The bull gear has 68 teeth, and the 2 spindle gears have 32 teeth each. The diameter of the threaded shaft is 1 3/4" Imprinted on the casing bottom is L- 71 and imprinted on the race cover is L-30. All of the other parts, gears etc, are intact with no cracking or chipping and operating as they should and they show normal wear for the time period. It was purchased new in 2008. In the time I've owned it. It has always been used and stored in climate controlled shops. This lathe was used 95% for cutting aluminum(my own products) The other 5% was for gunsmithing and installing rifle barrels. I made three modifications to this lathe: first was to install the pieces of channel to the front of the lathe to help redirect coolant back to the coolant tank(easily removed if desired) Second was to install the halogen work light to the backsplash. Which is plugged into an existing accessory outlet. And third, was to install an outboard spider to the spindle for use in chambering and crowning rifle barrels for gunsmithing. The original Haas spindle end cap is included if this last option is not desired. For those that like to send lowball offers: I will not sell below my asking price prior to Jan 31st. After that time. Used Clover Timesaver Doria Milano 25X33 Gap bed 25"X120" metal lathe with 4 1/8" bore. 20" four jaw chuck, L taper spindle, Taper attachment. Steady rest, Follow rest and thread dial. This lathe does inch metric threads and spindle speeds are 15-1000rpm. The ways have some scratches and dinges but are in decent condition. The screws both have about 1/4 turn backlash. There are a couple of marks in the compound from the chuck. The lathe has been cleaned and repainted. It runs fine and all functions work. It is currently wired for 220v 3 phase.
