Small Indian Papoose mailer similar to Skookum with mailing tag and postage due!
This is a"generic" Indian papoose that could have been bought anywhere in your travels. The doll itself could be a Skookum as it is mad in the same manner as the Skookum dolls. The cardboard cradleboard is 4" long. The same length as the printed tag. The tag reads: To say I haven't time to write/sounds like a/poor excuse/but that's the truth.and so/I'll say Hello with/ this Papoose. The reverse is stamped with a 3¢ stamp and a Postage due 3 cents stamp. The mailer was mailed to Illinois. From where, I can't tell. This stamp was used from 1932 until 1958. The phone number was TRinity 1911. The catalog measures approx. 5-1/2" x 5-1/4" and has 12 pages. Inside the mailer/catalog are drawings of dresses for sale. On the back is an order form. Probably dating to the 1930's or 1940's. These souvenir dolls originally had a mailing tag attached which is missing. One doll appears to be a papoose and the other is a chief. FABULOUS FIND… BERNARD CHEVROLET-OLDS LIBERTYVILLE. ILLINOIS This is a great piece of Chevy history! An original ad mailer sent from the dealership to a Chevy owner. The piece measures 8.25" x 5.5" folded. And opens to a huge 16" x 11" Full color on all sides. Copyright dated 1962 The mailer was designed to encourage a safety/maintenance inspection and it depicts the friendly(and remarkably well-dressed) staff assisting a gentleman with his auto maintenance. A Jackie Kennedy-esque woman in a shift dress and pearls is also seen smiling at her friendly Chevy serviceman. The mailer unfolds to offer customers a useful map showcasing America's Geographical Growth. And it promises a card-weight copy of this map to customers who come in for a visit. Best of all is the phone number of the dealership which is listed as: EMpire ... more2-1400 Those were the days! The overall condition is excellent given the age of the mailer. The corners show appropriate wear and the creases are still very strong with only the center crease showing a small sign of weakness. This has clearly not been unfolded in decades. The outer address area shows a ring where I would imagine a coffee mug was set down 50 years ago. See photos for details. An Original 1940 Cadillac& LaSalle Dealer Booklet Display. This display was intended to be mounted on the wall in Cadillac/LaSalle dealerships. Salesmen would select any of the 10 booklets and give/mail it to prospective buyers based on their profile. Needs and model interest. The display is meant to hold 10 booklets but only 9 are included, booklet#10 the"I wanted something that's beyond comparison" Cadillac Fleetwood 16 booklet is missing.
