This is the mother heffer of all spark gaps. It has a foot long. Extreme, Mega-Ampare range peak, high current spark gap with multiple ignition probes. The device was originally part of an x-ray generator used by Sandia labs that would be used to photograph the disintegration of heavy projectiles and real time hydrodynamics of implosion mechanisms. It was used once by my engineering class to make a giant spiral line flux compression generator that made a few MeV in a 4-6nS pulse for high energy plasma X-ray generation experiments. This gap is made of copper, bronze, and has a very heavy zirconium oxide ceramic support plate! The zirconium oxide is used because the discharge energy is so extreme that the thermal pulse and shock wave would cause most other insulation materials to shatter or burn up. The top part is meant to be operated in a ... moremix of helium, argon and SF-6(sulfur hexiflouride) the bottom part is meant to be operated in a big oil tank. Tektronix PG 508 TM 503 pulse generator 50 mhz.
The PG 508 is in good condition. The only issue is the label on the duration cal knob. I have a picture of it shown. The TM 503 has a cracked piece on the left side. This part will fall out if the blank plate is removed. The pots are a little dirty from sitting but everything appears to function. I have scope shots at low and high frequencies. CSC 4001 electronic testing pulse square wave generator
This is a very nice 4001 pulse wave generator I got from a friend but don't have a use for it as I don't have other equipment to get it's full potential. It was made by a company called Continental Specialties but is now known as Global Spectialties and they make the same model as this. I have a copy of the Global website and they sell this model for $280.00. I have an older Hitachi oscilloscope but it is not digital so I am not getting the best pattern. But I can change settings on the 4001 and see different patterns on my scope at different amplitudes and speeds. The controls all look to be a clean signal. The output is strong as I hooked it to a speaker and can get some loud varied frequencies out of the speaker. Just for fun it might even be a good scary sound generator for the high pitch sounds it can make. But it is excellent ... moreinside and I have the manual with it.
