I built this winch because. I am getting to old to carry logs thru the forest jungle, now I can winch them right to my trailer, cut'em up and stack'em on the trailer, it has a brand new Honda 20 hp engine and 300' new of ⅜ wire rope, engine hr meter has about 3 hours on it. It has an ectro magnetic engagement- disengagement clutch, and an adjustable slip clutch, for when the logs hit immovable objects such as stumps, trees or what ever. With choke chains I have pulled as many as 4 trees at once with it, it will pull about as much as a ¾ ton dodge can handle. The really fun part is, don't limb the trees till you get them winched out, as most, sometimes all of the limbs are broke off to 3-6 inches, makes limbing a joy. Has a 6 gallon gas tank, I used it to cut 10 cords and only used ½ a tank. The only reason I am selling ... moreit is because I am a retired farmer and I enjoy building things, if I sell it, I will build another, or perhaps several more if there is demand for them. I purchased this Warn winch from my cousin a few years ago. I used it a couple times for yard work to pull bushes. I have recently opened it. Cleaned it and looked at the gears inside. Everything appears to be in good shape. I put new brushes in the motor. I'm including a new WARN cover plate for the free spool knob, controller, two motor brushes and a cover for the winch. Here's a good Vintage EC4-1 Braden Winch 9" Spool. Solenoids Included. Did some research. Took a while. But found a 1975 ad for this winch, advertising 8000 pound capacity. Working Unit! Shows expected wear. Tested without load. Releases and Rewinds OK! Found at a local auction. As said, the spool is 9" wide in the cable area. It's 2" deep. Ad said it originally came with 150 feet of 5/16" cable. There was a rusty 3/8" cable on it, that has been removed. This unit was washed with solvent, to check for physical condition, cracks, etc. All is good. I check the operation off my truck battery. It retrieves fine, locks when stopped and releases when the motor is reversed. The solenoids look like recent replacements and work as they should. Aluminum mount are fine. M1089 military wrecker hydraulic rear lift made for towing disabled trucks. This all in one structure consists of the lift. Ground spades for winching, and winch fair leads with winch cable payout motors. The lift lowers all the way to the ground, and extends out as seen in the pictures. O-rings, bushings, shift collar and everything else that were below factory specifications. It has a new Eaton hydraulic motor on it also. I have rebuilt probably 40-50 of these and this 1 was in the best pre-rebuild condition than most of the others I've rebuilt. The truck cab has minor damage on the front(Should be relatively easy to fix) This is a PROJECT TRUCK. Not something you can hop in and drive home. At a minimum, the truck needs the trans valve body, ecu, push button selector, new tires, axle shaft, drive shafts, and the rear hubs reassembled to be drivable. The truck will also need other miscellaneous parts to make it complete. The truck still has 2 walk ways, oxygen and acetylene tank mounts, and a large, maybe 100 gallon, hydraulic tank. J.D. Christian 2 Drum Waterfall Winch Marine Salvage towing lifting rigging
For Auction- 1- J.D. Christian 2 drum waterfall winch. This winch was used to pull barges on a cradle up a set of rails on the Kanawha River. It is a model 316OU and was manufactured in July of 1945. It has two main drums and a third auxiliary drum. All three are gear driven and have band brakes. They also each have a capstan on the outside. I am sure the brake banding is no good. Each of the two drums has what we would call a jaw clutch. The winch was driven by a Buda 6 cylinder engine that is probably not operational. The stack has been open to the weather. We have not tried to start it. There is a snap clutch followed by a multispeed gearbox of some sort. In front of the operator is another gearbox of some sort operated by one of the three large handles in form or the seat. There is 3/4" cable on the drums but it is rusted and will ... moreneed replaced. Overall. The winch is in pretty good condition. Of course it is rusted and will require a great deal of work, freeing and cleanup to operate. It will most likely need to be repowered as well. The operators station has 3 large levers.
