I have indicated I do not know anything about the use of these tools in my other listings- we have been told by men that are familiar with the tools they are all in very desirable tools for someone in the industry and in good condition. This tool is an exception- it appears to almost not have been used- in original box with the description. So- I can give you the information. This is a VERNIER CALIPER made by CENTRAL TOOL CO. JAPAN. It is in a worn clear plastic sleeve inside the original brown plastic snap holder with the company name and product name on the plastic snap holder. In Original box with the paperwork. Again- purchased in approx 1970- 80's. On the front of the tool left side it reads"CENTRAL TOOL CO. Mm, 1/1000in. On the right of the tool it reads"STAINLESS HARDENED, PRECISION PRODUCT OF JAPAN. The back of the tool has no markings. Paperwork info. VERNIER CALIPER- This Vernier Caliper may be used for inside, outside and depth measurements. The lock screw on the slide is used when repeat measurements are being made. Reasonable care will insure the long life of this precision tool. A light film of oil on the bearing surfaces of the main beam is recommended for smooth operation. Inside the information- it gives all the information for the"ENGLISH MEASURE- On the lower half of the main beam each inch is divided into ten numbered increments or tenths(100" 200" etc. Each tenth is divided into four increments of.025" each. You are bidding on a vernier-type dial caliper made by Mitutoyo in Japan. This machinist's tool is No. 505-623. The dial has English measurements(not metric) and reads directly to 1/1000" The caliper has a range of 6 inches and has a revolution counter. This caliper appears to be in properly functioning condition. Since it is pre-owned. It has some surface scratches but should provide many more years of service. It has a previous owner's department number engraved on the back. The caliper comes with a plastic case. A use, care and maintenance instruction sheet, and an information sheet about Mitutoyo calipers. The lid of the case has curved up at the ends but still snaps shut securely. It's listed as 12" but the numbers go out to 13" There is a name engraved on the back side but no other department or tooling numbers.
