Unknown Patent 1899 Holman-Hughes Lumber Co. Good-For 5 Cents Bi-Metallic Token!
Here is a nice old b-metallic merchant token. Made of a brass ring enclosing a white metal center, in quite decent condition overall, measuring app. 3/4" across, with a plain edge. This vintage trade piece shows moderate wear. And it has some small imperfections and general light discoloration not overly distracting. I have not cleaned it in any manner, two of the scans having been"enhanced" for clarity. I do not know the origin or history of this token. The obverse has"Holman-Hughes Lumber Co. around the top on the brass. With star at the bottom. The center has what may be a simulated signature but I cannot tell- it is mostly worn. The reverse has"Good For- In Merchandise" around on the brass. The number"5" on the white metal, a patent date of 1899 beneath the numeral, with some other lettering I cannot ... moreread. 1950’s Operating Miniature Lumber Carrier Cari-Car Toy by Swan Hill of Pleasanton. California. This diecast toy has never been played with. Comes in original box and has original lumber, tray and cardboard inserts. Factory issued condition. They don’t get more mint than this. The steering wheel has some pitting– other than that. This toy is bright and shiny. Four wheel steering and lumber lifter works. Measures 10.5 inches long by 6.5 inches wide by 7.5 inches tall it its highest point. Early 1900s souvenir china calendar plate that measures 8 3/8 inches round; gold leafed lettering on the lower edge reads: MERRY CHRISTMAS/ THE STAR LUMBER CO. TERRY. MONT. the plate has kind of a Christmas theme to it with the red berries around the leafs of the calendar; there is a year in center"1911" ... moreand at the top center rim there is another year"1912" the leafs of the calendar are bordered on the outer edge with large pink flowers; there is no base mark on the reverse side, but probably an early 1900s plate made somewhere in Ohio; the condition is near excellent- NO chips or cracks; I tried to photograph a spot on the edge- a manufacturing flaw and it's very tiny- just an unfinished little spot; also, in the outer blue-green decoration in and around the leafs of the calendar, the blue has a tiny bit of wear or it was not printed properly- nice Montana souvenir.
