Hickok 539A "Engineers Model" Vacuum Tube Tester In Good Working Condition
This is a Hickok model 539A vacuum tube tester. It is in good working condition. I I tested several tubes and compared the results of the tests with my recently calibrated TV-7. The meter readout is different than the TV-7 but the resulting values/tube strengths were comparable with the TV-7. The case on the 539A has the usual scuffs and dings& the roller has some play in it when changing direction of the roller but for a tester of this vintage but overall it is in very good working condition. TV-2 C/U Tube Tester Hickok Excellent Shape
Up for consideration 1 TV-2 C/U tube tester. This tube tester is in excellent shape for its age. all the dials move freely. All gauges move smoothly. The roll chart is outstanding. both the laches work great. it Also comes with the original test set booklet. I've tested all the internal tubes. all of them are great and well balance except the spare 83 Westinghouse. That one is bad. I left it in the holder to keep the bracket from moving over the place. The power cord seems to original. I've tested a few different types of tubes on this machine and they all fall a little short of my calibrated TV-7D. so im going to list it as needing calibration, and the only guarantee I will make is that it will turn on. This is a popular model, as it can not only test most of the audio tubes being use today, but can also test tubes used in radio such as 811 and all Compactrons. We are selling this"as is" described to the best of our ability. It powers up and the meter works. We have no idea if its been calibrated and we have no way to test it further. All the knobs are present and seem to do what they are suppose to do. The rubber shield on part of the power cord has crumbled a little. You are looking at an RD Instruments 1575 Tube Tester. This tester is similar to the Hickok 539B or the Western Electric KS-15750. Overall. It is in good used condition. However, it does not have a top lid. All meters are Hickok. All knobs, buttons, switches are working. The top face panel has some stains, marks, etc. All of this can be seen in the photos. I tested it using a 6L6 tube(photos 23 and 24) and it seems to be working accurately. It has a couple of service labels on it, and apparently the last service was in 1982. I had to open it up and rip the certification label(located in the top left corner- photo 12) in order to take photos inside. Inside, it is clean and there is no oxidation. The TV-7 series of military tube testers is recognized as some of the most practical and useful testers available. The D/U was the last of the TV-7 series. These are very portable. Versatile, rugged and highly accurate tube testers. NOTE: I WILL ONLY SHIP TO THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES. This tester was completely serviced and calibrated in Arizona earlier this year and has only been used to test a few items since then. This unit was compared to other testers to ascertain that it is operating fully as it was designed. And as well as other calibrated TV-7's that were available. A new. Hickok i-177 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester with Mod for Modern
This has an unusual modification which makes it do the same as a MX-949 adaptor- sort of. The adapter is mounted over sockets A. B, C& D and connects through E. A-D(4, 5, 6& 7 pin) are not available for use. The MX-949 booklet in the cover does not list all the tubes it can test. The Gilardetti spreadsheet you can find online lists many more types that can be tested than the booklet does. With the adapter it is not suitable for testing early radio type tubes. The grey crackle on the case looks like it was done fairly recently. The 83 is replaced with solid state. Recently calibrated and working well for what it does test. The switch style of the mod is sort of putzy to use. Not a good tester if you're trying to test a lot at once where you would need to frequently change the settings.

This Model 123 was just serviced for this auction. I took the 123 to my local repair shop and the following work was done. Greeting Hickok test equipment Lovers and Collectors! Up for auction is a Hickok 510X vacuum tube tester/ vom meter. This is one of Hickok's earliest testers and was discontinued in 1935. The case is in rough condition and needs to be stripped of its covering and refurbished.The face plate on the tester is in good condition.A little cleaning will make it very presentable. The plug has been cut off of the cord and one of the knobs and three resistors were found under the electronics in the case. I know from experience that technicians often cut the plug and removed knobs to prevent anyone from trying to operate a piece of equipment they deemed to be non-functional. I believe that to be the case with this tester. I bought this to remove the English control for another unit but it turns out the shaft on this model is slightly shorter and it wouldn't hold the English dial that has the curved sides. Unit powers up. And you can set line. I remember testing a 6L6 with it when I got it and it read low. Didn't register anything today, so listing as Parts Only As Is. No returns. This auction is for a Vintage Hickok Tube Tester T-53. With no reserve. The tester shows some wear and can be seen in the twelve(12) pictures below. The tester is sold as is and I do not know if it works properly or not. When it is plugged in and it is turned on, the light of the meter goes on. When the Line Adjustment knob is moved the light for the meter goes dimmer and brighter. When the line test button is pushed, the meter goes to a little over 1500. When the roller is turned the chart moves from Stop to Stop. I see no light for the chart. The coating for the red wire has some breaks in the coating. Hickok 539-A Tube Tester calibrated This Tube tester was serviced with new resistors. Caps and complete adjustments for correct signal levels and meter bridge setting etc. I also replaced the 83 Rectifier Tube with Solid state replacement to reduce the load on the transformer. 539 A is the earlier version of 539B/C and has almost the same features like Self bias terminals and Plate Current Measuring terminals etc. Also signal level can be switched unlike entry level 600 A or 800A versions. This model can be a versatile Hickok like 539B or C without fancy price. Plate Voltage. Screen, Grid Bias and Grid Signal levels were checked after adjustments. also the Meter bridge was adjusted for correct meter reading for Micromho based on Daniel Schoo 539 C calibration method on all ranges. I also use Brent Jesse Recording Sample calibration 6L6 tube for checking this tester. Few points to note. This tester will not be shipped overseas due to fragile as well as size of the tester. The wood was the original 539 A box but the covering was really not worthy of this tester when I got it. So I removed the decayed covering. The wood box is not of great quality( as Hickok boxes were meant to have the covering to make it look better than bare wooden box. The buyer can get it covered using Tolex or suitable material. I had done such a work on 800 A model and can guide the buyer if he wishes to do on his own. This tester is over 50 year old and hence the top looks its age. However I had replaced the power cable with 3 pronged safety 3 wire power cabling. The earth is connected to the top Metal plate to avoid issues with power input. Hickok TV-7D/U Tube tester, Extremely nice condition, Depot overhauled / Cal'd
Here's a really nice TV-7D tube tester in excellent operating condition and cosmetic condition. It appears to me that it was never used in the field. There's no obvious wear either on the inside or outside of the case. This comes with the US Army Depot box when it was calibrated or overhauled in 1978. I just checked the calibration(to Mil TM-11-6625-274-35) and it needed just one minor adjustment since the overhaul. See my calibration test sheets in the last two pictures. This has the standard accessories. And an unused tube chart. All of this looks unused. As you can see from the pictures the front panel. And the chassis are also like new. The tube sockets are likewise look unused. Some info. The TV-7D has several improvements over earlier units e.g. it has parasitic oscillation damping(ferrite beads) and it has a higher GM range(position ... moreF) for testing the later(high Gm) tubes. This of course will test all early tubes including Western Electrics. There are sockets for 4.5,6,7,8 octal. 8 loctal, 7/ 9 pin minatures and acorns. It is possible to make adapters for the later 9/ 12 pin sweep tubes. This has been completely calibrated to the Army Tech manual(TM 11-6625-274-35) specs. The two factors that have the most influence on unit to unit repeatability are the signal voltage levels(step 4) and the transconductane(plate AC current) These are right on their center values(see test calibration data) The TV-7's are considered to be standard by many people. They're obviously built to the highest standard and they don't have the"English" pot that many Hickok's used to change the transconductance range. TV-7's that are calibrated properly don't depend on using a"standard" 6L6) tube for adjusting the(transconductance) scales. Instead this calibration is done by using by using a known AC plate current(from an isolated transformer) and knowing the AC grid test signal. Very nice Hickok 546 tube tester. This has been gone through recently and works very well. The metal case could use some cleaning or re-painting but is also in nice condition with no rust. The handle is good and sturdy. I have tested several tubes(an 80. 2A3, and a 6SF7) against my 800 and they test almost identical. The roll chart is in very good condition. I will try to get the postage down a bit by cutting down the box a bit. I don't charge for packaging.

Beautiful Hickok 6000 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Lightly Used AUCTION
This is a beautiful working example of one of the finest tube-testers ever built. It is one of the last of the great Hickoks and has been very lightly used. The roller tube-chart functions properly and has the test-data for many modern tubes not seen on other testers. Such as 5687, 5755, 5670. Of course the test data for the old stand-bys such as 12AX7, 6V6, 6SN7 are included, too. It tests solid-state devices such as transistors and diodes but I have never performed these tests. I have tested many tubes with this unit. It is working properly. It has not. However, been professionally calibrated. It is a true analog device and tiny changes in either the bias or shunt controls have a dramatic effect on the test reading. This is a unit you can live with for the rest of your life. If you have never used one, it takes a little time and practice ... moreto perform a test correctly. For example, there are two ways to read the output: GOOD vs. REPLACE, or in MICROMHOS(transconductance) To do the good-replace test, you use the settings on the tube chart. To test for approximate transconductance, you use one of the three red dots on the shunt knob to set the scale on the meter. You can then compare the reading on the meter to the nominal standard reading shown on the chart. Sound complicated? It isn't. It just takes a little practice and patience to become an expert. If you want to use this as a commercial tube-seller. I suggest you have it professionally calibrated. Look on ebay for folks who perform that sevice. I have read their ads and they sound like they know their stuff. In the photos you can see me testing a Russian EL34 and a Chinese 6L6GC. Both lightly used. The EL34 tests a little low. Checked the calibration with a 6L6 calibration tube and it was perfect. This unit is solid state and does not require any tubes. The bias is set with the meter rather than a bias pot for higher precision. There is also a calibration pot on the shunt for adjustment instead of having to remark the dial. The case is a little dirty and has some light paint over-spray. This unit has an original three-prong grounded plug and a resting post for the cap wire. Tapping on it will get it to read, but it is very erratic and needs repair or replacement. Checked with 5U4 and 6L6. Hickok 800K / 600A Vacuum Tube Tester
Hickok 800K 600A Vacuum Tube Tester Tester seem to work pretty good. The 6V6GT being tested measured 4180 on my Amplitrex and so looks pretty close. I did put a new cord on it. Cleaned the switches with DeOxit. The tubes(83& 5Y3GT) inside it test as new. Interior electronics look good. Roll chart goes from end to end but gets a little tight at the very ends. Easy fix. Some minor stains on the face and a small dent in the lower right hand corner(see picture) I do not have the manual(a 600A manual will work just fine) but available free on line or nice reprints on Ebay. The case is a little rough but solid. There is a plate/grid wire but the wire covering is cracked and should be replaced. As with any tester purchased on Ebay. HICKOK 600A DYNAMIC MUTUAL CONDUCTANCE TUBE TESTER AMP HI-FI TESTED AGAINST 539C
DESCRIPTION* Here's a decent Hickok 600A tube tester I have used for several years testing only some simple guitar-amp tubes: 6L6. 12AX7, 12AU7's. etc. I'm only selling it because I recently bought a calibrated 539C tester. It would continue to serve it purpose well as a"service tester" determining if tubes are shorted, and a general good vs bad idea if a tube is usable or not. I would not rely on it for matching tubes or for selling tubes based on a specific Gm output. I would question it's accuracy. It could probably be calibrated though to achieve more accurate results(it's never been calibrated to my knowledge) In fact. Just to see how it compared. I tested 2 of the same tubes both on this tester and my recently calibrated Hickok 539C. The tubes I checked were a 12AU7 and a 6L6. Here's how they compared: ... more6L6- on this 600A = 4.300 Gm 6L6- on 539C = 5.750 Gm(where 539C says Min. for 6L6 is 3.300) 12AU7- on this 600A = 1.900/ 2,000 12AU7- on 539C = 2.600/ 2,700(where 539C says Min. for 12AU7 is 1.950/1,950) So based on these readings it looks like you have a conservative margin for error to your advantage on this 600A(assuming the 539C is accurate) Both of these tubes read well into the Green"Good" range on the 600A at that. Also. A new power cord has been installed recently. It has a grounded-plug but the ground wire for some reason is not attached. So, I imagine it could still be attached and grounded if so desired. The tube-data chart does not roll properly when installed in the tester- it binds. If you remove it from the tester you can get it to reach both ends of it's chart though with no problem. For the time I used it, I just kept it out of the tester for that reason. This tester will ship completely assembled though as seen in the first 3 photos. One more thing, the plastic lens that goes in the window for the tube chart is missing. The photos are of the actual tester you are buying, let them speak for themselves.
