This one works all way and weighs around 12 pounds. The teeth line up straight this is a good user. These old vises were built so much better than the ones today. You are buying a vintage Littlestown Howe& FDRY Heavy Duty wood bench vise. It was made in Littlestown. Pa. Face plates are 4 inches x10 inches. Opens to 16 inches. Very heavy duty- Weighs 34 pounds! VINTAGE HOWE& FOUNDRY CO. WOODWORKING VISE. The jaw faces measure 10 inches wide X 4 inches high. Jaw opening at maximum extension is 16 inches. Cast into the front jaw face is“HOWE& FDY CO. No. 197, LITTLESTOWN, PA, U.S.A. The handle is a 13-inch long iron pipe with threaded caps. It has holes with countersinks on both jaws for large wood screws so you can attach wooden jaws so as not to mar your work. LITTCO(made in Littlestown PA. clamp on woodworking style bench vise in good used. Usable condition. It is shown clamped to my kitchen table, please don't tell my wife. This American made vise is made of cast iron with steel guide rod and screws. It has some rust, paint smears and scarred paint, but it works quite well. surface( Both the vertical and horizontal jaw surfaces measure about 1 1/4" X 5" This little vise weighs about 4 1/2 pounds and opens to almost 3 1/4 inches while maintaining almost full screw engagement. It will clamp onto a surface up to about 2 inches thick. There are holes to facilitate the installation of jaw liners if you wish. This could be an interesting collectible or simply use it as a portable"third hand" for small projects.

Up for auction is this vintage No. 3 Littlestown bench vise. In the versatile clamp-on style. It was made in Littlestown, Pennsylvania, in the good old U.S.A. It's jaws are 2 1/2" wide, and it opens wide enough to handle anything up to 2 1/4" maybe a tad more) thick/wide. It also feature teethed jaws, beneath the standard flat jaws, so you can handle round stock as well. The vise can be clamped to any flat surface up to 1 3/4" thick. Everything works well, but I'm sure a little oil or grease will smooth things up even more. It has some minor rust- mostly on the operating screw shaft, especially the head. It retains almost all of its original green paint. A previous owner modified it by drilling 2 holes in the flat of"anvil" That's the only area with conspicuous paint loss- and some light rust as a result. ... moreThe edges of the jaws have a couple of small areas that have been worn a tiny bit, but it is not enough(in my opinion) to cause any problems. Vintage Littlestown Clamp-on Vise, No. 2, 2" Jaws, Pipe Holders, Anvil, U.S.A.
For Auction is a Vintage Littlestown Cast Iron 2" Clamp-on Vise. No. 2, with fixed pipe jaws and a small anvil- made in U.S.A. by Littlestown Hardware& Foundry Co. in Littlestown, PA. Littlestown Foundry is still in business but they discontinued iron casting 25 years ago. The jaws measure 1-15/16" wide, open to approximately 2" and clamps on a workbench up to 1-7/16" thick. This used small vise is in good to very good condition and is fully functional. The green paint appears to be original factory with just a little light normal wear and the bright metal parts are clean with no pitting. The jaws show some marks from normal use for this type of tool but no excessive wear or damage. The jaws do not close perfectly tight but I'm not sure they ever did. The main vise screw and the bench clamp screw work smoothly ... morethrough the entire range. Most of the items I sell are from estate sales. Auctions, flea markets, etc. I clean them as necessary to properly evaluate all aspects of the condition and functionality.
