I’m just waiting for Older Bro to finish his conference call before we both pile into the Brown Bomber and head out to fish a little.
Sure, I haven’t caught up with the posts from last weekend’s fishing trip, but unlike yesterday — where the wind blew hard enough to make the house move — today is calm and cloudy.
At this point in the spring, a little warmth would probably do the fishing wonders, but this year, wishing for sunshine and 70 degree days is like wishing for Heidi Klum to show up at my door carrying pizza and beer; it could happen, but it hasn’t yet, and all indicators suggest it probably won’t anytime soon.
It’s the usual small stream raid, though with a few differences.
In addition to the 8′ 4wt Superfine Touch I’ve been testing, I waxed the ferrules on my old Phillipson Premium 8′ 5wt (varnished) rod that I keep not sending out to get the ferrules tightened.
I mean, you know.
What the hell.
Older Bro brought his 8’9″ 4wt Temple Fork Finesse rod — which is awfully nice given the price — but I may talk him into fishing the Superfine Touch.
Another opinion is always helpful, and for some reason, I’ve got a burr under my saddle to fish the Phillipson.
Looks like the call is ending. And I’ll let you know if we run into Heidi on the stream.
See you on the road, Tom Chandler.
