Fly Fishing Thought For The Holidays
In the time it takes to wrap one present (badly), I could have tied a dozen Beetle Bugs.
And I’ve got a bunch of presents to wrap.
In other words, I could tie a couple dozen flies that might take dozens of hours of sweaty fly fishing to lose, or I could wrap presents that will see a savage, seconds-long unwrapping at the hands of Little M.
And I’m picking presents.
It’s yet another example of how – despite its roots in food gathering – fly fishing is poor preparation for modern life.
Most of us wouldn’t have it any other way.
Merry Christmas & A Happy Holidays From the Trout Underground
Not surprisingly, I’ve caught yet another holiday cold (Vegas had 5-3 odds), and it’s going to be a quiet Christmas.
More to come from the Underground before the year ends, though sadly for the sadists among the Undergrounders, I’ve scrapped plans to liveblog my fumbling attempts to assemble not one, but two sizable toys on Christmas Eve.
It is, after all, my first Christmas as a Toy Daddy. This stuff never ceases to knock me out.
See you enjoying the darkest but bestest bits of year, Tom Chandler.
