The Trout Underground is conceived and written by Tom Chandler, who still believes in happy endings.

My writing, marketing and consulting worlds are powered by Ubuntu Linux, which runs like the wind and contributes little in the way of computerized drama to my life.

A writer can’t ask for much more. But of course we do, which is where the following enter into the picture.

Writer’s Tools

• 95% of my writing time is spent in programmer’s text editors: (Emacs, Komodo Edit, Sublime Text 2)
• Gimp (image editing for all the Underground’s pictures, most of which are taken on an old Pentax Optio waterproof point & shoot)
• Markdown (markup language that is easier to write, read and format than HTML)

Online Software

• WordPress (two hands clapping)
• Hootsuite (helps keep the social media mess in check)
• Ampersand Theme (Trout Underground WordPress theme)
