Really enjoyed the mayfly hatching….astream one is almost always to engrossed in either casting or rumaging in the compartments of the fly box for the right size to truly see the process. I’ve always thought the big duns looked like tiny sailboats adrift on the surface.
I think I may have to try the dry fly vodka.. grey goose martini 3 blue cheese olives is the standard but I’m thinking a dry fly martini with blue cheese olives could be called a blue dun…… start sending royalty checks now…
The pooping porcupine quills reminds me of the time the ex-wife tried to cook……. but I’ll keep it classy and not go there … the quills soaked and split with a razor blade make a superb translucent segmented body… wonder if birds passing them adds a quality to the fly like elephants do to the coffee?????

i can certainly add the to science of “does vodka improve ice-fishing” by way of relating results of my own experimenting with beer and ice fishing. beer does, in fact, not increase fish yield. although, grilled brats were have always been involved so with that added variable, i cannot say the science was rigorious.
