Was out fly fishing, and is now home, working. More on the former is coming soon (the less we talk about the latter, the better).

A shakycam pic of me standing in the rain like an idiot. But more on that later.

Tom,
I have enjoyed reading your blog for the last year. I recently wrote a short essay about winter small creek fishing from an Eastern perspective, with a reference to you and your penchant for small stream fishing (you’ve got some beautiful photos on your site of the Alpine streams in Northern California).
Best regards,
Eric Thiessen

Eric; Thanks for stopping by. I read your essay, and while I probably can’t be labeled as the kind of guy who thinks that catching fish “is” the point of the whole exercise, I do think the reasons we fly fishing can change over the course of a single day.
Keep up the good work.

Standing in the rain at the parking lot of a the local mall is idiotic.
Standing in the rain in a stream doing practically anything is genius.

Tom’s a genius. I was standing just down stream of him. It was really raining, we were counting the BWO’s . There were few enough of them to count. My nose was running. Hands freezing. Had one take. Tom forgot the whisky. And forgot any whiskey. Yep. That’s what I was thinking. Two geniuses. Yeh.

Forgot the whiskey!?! Okay, that’s idiotic.

Raine thinks I forgot. Maybe I just got tired of seeing 3/4 of it disappear into what amounts to a pale, white Sasquatch…

Tell us, what song were you singing?

The theme from Dora the Explorer. These days, it’s the only song I know.
