In a clear sign that fly fishing’s apocalypse is upon us, California Fly Fisher magazine interviewed me for their Crosscurrents column.

I mean, how desperate have things become?

I haven’t seen the published version yet, but it’s apparently in the February 2012 issue which is just now arriving in fly shops and in mailboxes (you can subscribe here).

California Fly Fisher

We talk about print vs online media, why anyone would write a fly fishing blog, and they even mined an intemperate 2006 post about fly fishing’s magazines for fodder.

Looking at the interview I sent back, I admit to cringing a little; I wrote it over two post-midnight sprees just prior to the flight to Hawaii, and in some cases I didn’t directly answer the questions — a sure sign of sleep deprivation, if not outright brain damage.

Tell you what; you read it and let me know.

In any case, kudos to California Fly Fisher for taking an interest in the online world, where I imagine a fair number of their readers spend some time (I may be writing an article or two for them about the Klamath).

I’ll try to post a short excerpt sometime soon.

See you in print, Tom Chandler.
