Take that, Condit Dam — a river-killing structure that was partially taken out the right way (and by “right” we mean by the use of explosives):
Now if only we could convince somebody to involve A few B-26 Marauder fast attack bombers…

Blowing shit up is always cool; but this, this is AWESOME cool. Swim fishes swim!
We have a lot of work cut out for us all the time down here in Argentina Patagonia (not to mention in Chile) fighting dam projects, and one of the big reservoirs in Chubut where the fight was lost several decades ago is named Aumutuy Quimey which means in the native language “Lost Beauty”. Today let’s all drink to getting a bit of beauty back!

Woo-Hooo! Most Excellent! I like the B-26 idea but they’re a bit scarce…….How about a few A-1 Skyraiders? Or,yes, your fav, the A-10 Thunderbolt II…..
…but there is always the old houseboat/AMFO combo; classic, yet edgey in a fun way…..

Maybe we’re being too general. Why not re-create historic raids? The British dam-busting sorties are obvious (and good places to start), but let’s consider getting some B-25s and reenacting Doolittle’s raid.

yeah, that will work….There are afew of those flying about….Here’s an idea…”Dr. Strangelove” You can be Peter Sellers and KBarton can be Slim Pickens…Still lots of B-52s in the air……

Love it. Last year here in IA mother nature brought down a damn on a river that was put up by private land owners. Now they want the state and federal govt to provide money to help rebuild it so they can have their private lake back again. Not!

A joy to view, again and again and again.

The dam explosion is edifying for sure, but what’s also true is that the exact same economic realities that caused Pacific Power to blow up Condit apply to the four Klamath Dams; they cost way, way more to upgrade than take out, and once upgraded, they’ll operate at an annual $20 million loss.
Bye-bye, dams…

I don’t understand! Isn’t it better to have a gradual release of all that damned up water rather than a sudden river bed scourging flood of water?

You’d think so, but then, it wouldn’t be nearly as exciting.
It’s also possible they were hoping to duplicate a runoff event to move sediment or revive downstream habitat (guessing).
