I’m not exactly a fan of hatchery salmon, but the Sacramento Bee’s Randall Benton crafted some cool images of the salmon fry release into the American River (you’re just wasting your time anyway, right).

On the east coast we also have an extensive (and futile) salmon parr program. It’s more like welfare program for trout than anything else. Big trout that find it too tiresome to chase crayfish or mice can simply snack continuously on freshly released parr.
