Welcome to yet another of the Underground’s ongoing series of “Why fly fishing is better than [insert less-attractive sport here]” posts. This time, it’s hunting with captive eagles – a seemingly royal sport, until the eagles say the hell with the tiny feathered baits and wild game, and decide that humans look like a heartier, easier-to-catch meal.
Undergrounders, meet your new feathered overlords (found via The Goat).

I’ve seen at least 127 asian carp videos that have had a similar ending, do we fly fish for those yet?

This is a very cool picture… But yeah, it’s definitely fly fishing all the way for me.

Sadly, it looks like the video won’t be very good for that little incident.

I’ll go ahead and list the dangers of Eagle Watching as yet another reason I’m holding firm to the sport of fly fishing.

This is clearly one of those cases where the photo is being taken way out of context. One can clearly see the photographer has an extreme itch between his shoulder blade that he simply can’t reach (torn rotator cuffs probably). The eagle, being the dear fellow he is, is simply helping to scratch that unreachable itch.
If we could see the photographer’s face he would probably have a dreamy “Ahhhhhh” look on his face — the same look someone with a leg cast and a bent coat hanger probably has.

Wow, never heard of or seen an Eagle attacking before in my life. This is a sweet picture! We have hawks near us and my girlfriend has a little dog, I keep telling her to be careful when letting the poor dog out. It’s just a matter of time till a hawk snatched him up.
