We first posted about local legend Joe Kimsey’s medical issues a while ago, and while news is somewhat encouraging, it appears Joe is going to be at a care facility in Redding for a while longer.
Anyone who’s met Joe knows he faces every trial with a smile and a joke, and damnit, we hope to see him back at the shop again soon, tying Bombers and shouldering Bob Grace aside whenever a woman enters the shop.
Still, right now, one of his biggest enemies is sheer bordeom, and if anyone would like to send him a card, letter, magazine or other get-well-soon gift, then you would accumulate significant good karma.
I spoke to Bob Grace, and for now, I’d suggest sending goodies to the Ted Fay Fly Shop. That way, the next person headed down for a visit can drop them by.

Get better soon, Joe. The Undergrounders miss you.

TC,
Went down Thurs. and saw him. Like you said he is always smiling and got a wise crack for everything. He has lost one of his hearing airs and the other one is on the fritz so you damn near have to scream at him.
Sorry I couldn’t stop by Linda back was hurting and I had to get home. (She call just as I was going to get off the freeway at Mt. Shasta)

As far as I know, he’s still in Redding. I’ll see what I can find out, but if you want to know the name of the place, call the Ted Fay Fly Shop (Bob Grace) or the Dunsmuir Rod Company (Chris Raine) for details.
Thanks for asking.
