Now We’ve Gone All Facebooky and Everything: The Underground Gets Social

by Tom Chandler on March 4, 2009 · 9 comments

Like the villan in a Bond movie, the Underground simply won’t be happy until we control the world’s entire supply of something.

For them, it’s gold/oil/weapons.

For us, it’s the Internet. And in an interesting twist (more likely a massive display of ego), we’re going to welcome Facebook to The Trout Underground, Facebook edition:

You Facebook types will want to visit right away, though to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what’s going to happen there. I did throw together a nice “fly fishing in the snow” photo album, and hell – there’s even a discussion board for those of you with something on your mind that we’re not talking about here.

In other words, it’s one small step for the Trout Underground, but one giant leap for Facebook.

See you on the Internet, Tom Chandler.

good heavens we must be channeling. we both wrote posts about facebook within 24 hours of each other? hmmmm…..I think Facebook is exercising some sort of mind control on us. That’s just too weird.  (Quote)

@Benjamin – Six figures, baby.

@Chick – Great to have you back among us. The Facebook thing is interesting; I’m not 100% sure how it’s going to fit into the Underground’s plans for worldwide domination, but it’s something worth exploring.

The Underground blog site gets a lot of visitors of each day, yet I’m concerned that so many don’t add their $.02 to the conversation. Maybe Facebook is another way to add those voices to the conversation.  (Quote)

Tom — I agree, I’m not sure how the FFC facebook page is going to work but I am interested to give it a try. I am also hopeful it will provide another place for banter if they don’t feel comfortable commenting on the blog.

the experiment is live so we shall see!!  (Quote)

Tom
A brushstroke of genuis I say….you get to put a face on your demographic. and you can compile a database of rabid TU fans for quick streamside reference, allowing you the time to decide if its safer to have Wally lick them to death or shake hands and trade lies. uhhhh I mean flies.  (Quote)

Fishing Jones,

Very funny vid. I was on Facebook but removed myself when the management made those statements about content belonged to Facebook for ever. I am a big Intellectual Properties guy and that pissed me off. I know they recanted a few days after but still how brain-dead do you have be to make a statement like that in the first place. NO time for issues like that.
