Jack! Thanks for the offer, but I think we'll continue to <strike>stalk</strike> admire Mr. Chandler's shooting prowess instead of his fishing skills. And instead of an autograph picture, we want a signed target...

Where you going this summer? Germany? Middle East? Someplace where there are fish?

Tom, you want me to get Tom's autograph for you? Maybe on a picture with him in waders holding a rod? I've got all that stuff in my trunk! Just give me the word.

Ohhh, that hurts. I seem to have completely missed the October's this year. Good on ya! Looking forward to the next missive.

Taku: I've got just the post coming later in the week...

60 degrees here too, and 10 grabs on an October Caddis in two hours. I'm a god.

Tom: Thanks for being the thundering (?) voice of consciousness for greening the industry. While it is always possible to criticize and find fault, those companies making the effort to look at the manufacturing process and taking the lead in finding ways to lessen impacts need to be recognized. Leading an examined life, personal or corporate is never easy, but we all better figure out what level of hypocrisy we are willing to live with and then reduce by half.

60 degrees and the dry flies were popping them on the local waters here in tropical MT.

Traveler: What would that accomplish?

Aaron: Nice observation, but at least BPS has en excuse; they make a lot more on conventional gear than they ever will on fly stuff. Most fly fishing manufacturers can't say the same.

Tom—

I thought you might like to know that here in Springfield, Mo., at Bass Pro Shops' "grand daddy of all outdoor stores," Santa's Wonderland has inundated the White River Fly Shop (aka the modest fly fishing section next to the massive heave-and-crank section). Hidden behind a wall of twinkling lights and fake snow, fly rods and waders lie in peaceful slumber, undisturbed by shoppers because you have to go all the way around the display to know it exists. We went in yesterday looking at winter jackets (they don't carry Patagonia, drats) and found the "fly shop" even more quiet than it usually is back there.
