I’ll be damned if I know exactly what’s happening (I read streams far better than I read foreign languages), but Frequent Underground Commentor Eduardo sent us news of what looks like an Argentine fisheries disaster in the making:

A very sad news from Argentina, in the Province of Santiago del Estero close the gate of a dam, from 30 m3 per second they started to release 4 m3 per second. That action dried out the “Río Dulce” in hours killing all the legendary “DORADOS” of el Dulce.

Are all these dead due to a planned dewatering of the Rio Dulce in Argentina?

The bi-lingual among the Undergrounders might find more explanation at this site, and anyone with more to add are welcome to in the comments.

Meanwhile, Eduardo gave us a little more information that will prove useful to those with a penchant for sending emails:

Tom, here are a few e-mail were the underground readers can write to: tevezabel@yahoo.com.ar, cattoemmerich@gmaiL.com, mondino@defensor.gov.ar, protesteya@cuatrocabezas.com and also they can write to the Greenpeace Argentina: greenpeace@sion.com

If you want you can use the pictures in my blog also see the pictures of the Dorados of this river on: http://diegoflores.net/2008/09/30/detras-de-escena-de-weekend-dorados-con-mosca-en-el-rio-dulce/

More on this as we get it.

See you (not on the) Rio Dulce, Tom Chandler.
