Taku: There does seem to a little finger-pointing going on. With any luck, the effects will be limited to a couple years.

As far as the sediment transport from the Clark Fork above Milltown Dam, scientists outside the EPA were predicting this occurence (Dr. Johnnie Moore from the University of Montana was particularly concerned about this). But, it's now just time to wait and see how the whole system handles this toxic load. Stay tuned...

Aaron: Nice trout.

I'll probably cool off on the whole anti-Canon thing, but I remain aware of the fact I shoot most of my better pictures with my Pentax point-and-shoot because it's waterproof, and therefore always handy...

Caught this – and twenty-some of its brothers – in RMNP last week on my fifth(?) time out with a fly rod.

Shot it with my crummy old Rebel 35mm with the crappy 28-80mm kit lens. Note: no backfocusing!

Tom—

I feel your pain. Luckily, my gear is still under warranty because I picked it up just a few months ago. I had to pick it up because my entire bag (I work as a photojournalist, too, and travel pretty light) was stolen back in March. (It should be noted that I never had any problems with that 20D + 70-200 f4L.) The office has an XTi that I used for one assignment before the CF eject button fell into the body. That also was a $200+ repair.

So much for brand loyalty...

Aaron: The diopter adjustment broke on my My 2-year old Rebel XT - and this after exactly two uses of the little dial.

Called before I sent it and got one story, but the repair estimate after shipping it in was astronomical, and two subsequent calls got different stories.

It's a crummy little piece of nothing that shouldn't have failed to begin with, and they wanted $200+ to repair it - only a little less than what the thing was worth.

I hate that kind of crap - and I'm a longtime Canon partisan who still has a bag full of old Canon F1 pro bodies from my photojournalism years (the 80s).

Tom--

What sort of issues are you having with your Canon? I just got my 40D + 70-200 f4L lens back from the service center to be calibrated and it's STILL backfocusing. The lens had already been in a month prior.

L + red line = no #@%!ing backfocusing.
