Since We Haven’t Pounded Nestle In a Few Days…

by Tom Chandler on August 19, 2008 · 7 comments

Because I’ve been eking out my humble living selling vowels and consonants, I haven’t finished any of the half-dozen longer articles in the works for the Trout Underground.

Nor have I pounded the Underground’s favorite whipping boy good corporate neighbor Nestle lately, but – via This is Fly – I found the perfect means for doing so while still providing a high quality, marketing-related entertainment experience for the Undergrounders:

See you drinking “Mitch,” Tom Chandler.

Okay, that was a truly weird experience. I mean, I agree with the fresh and fit part. And of course, a cooler head is hard to be found in a crisis. And clear thinking? They don’t call me the “blank book” for nothing!

About the slogan, though; that’s old news. PJ already has that down. However, they forgot the rest of it: “… and slap him around.” Which she’s liable to do most any time now.

I refuse to cross the line into “teat” territory, though. A little innocent thumb-sucking never hurt anybody, but that other kind; take it from a pro, that could be excruciating…

I knew there would be trouble with the “Mitch” water reference. Once again, my readers frighten me.

Frighten you, Tom? You should be dry-rot spitless by now!

Oh, and did I mention: Today’s Alexa Stats Update:

TU 506,252
CU 445,918

You shouldn’t bait us Mitch types too hard…

I was interviewing 3 summer interns for a Chemical Engineering position four weeks ago. My favorite question is “Have you read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for di-hydrogen oxide? You know it kills more people than any other chemical known to man!”
Only one got the question right, I hired her.
Maybe we should ask Nestile for the MSDS on their chemical. If it is ultra pure, it is truly dangerous.

Let’s put a warning label on that stuff!

FINALLY! Those interested in cracking the whip on Nestle keeping track of Nestle for real should visit my just-launched StopNestleWaters.org Web site.

It’s focused entirely on Nestle-related issues, and because it’s not a fly fishing blog (like the Trout Underground), there’s lots, lots more to talk about.

The Trout Underground will continue taking note of Nestle’s activities, but most of the action will be taking place on StopNestleWaters.org.

See you there!
