Four Clean, Simple Minutes of Fly Fishing to Rising Trout

by Tom Chandler on July 28, 2008

Tennessee fly fishing guides Ian and Charity Rutter just posted a nice, serene, four-minute video showcasing rising trout eating caddis.

They’ve managed to make something engrossing and real, and done so without a rock soundtrack. Fly fishing, it turns out, doesn’t automatically require a lot of tarting up. Enjoy:

Number 1…I wish my casting looked even remotely like Charity’s.

Number 2…no head banging music…just birds and bugs in the background?? They better watch out…the fly fishing video mafia will be after them!1

I had to laugh when Ian missed the same fish several times, and Charity asked if it was her turn yet. Ouch.

“Is it my turn yet?”

“Holy smoke. That fly went right between those two rises.”

Charity- You are a better caster than 95% of the mokes who come down to fish with me.

Ian-You had better hook those fish when they bite or your wife will push you to the back of the boat.

Captain: Good to see you around again. And Charity already pushes Ian to the back when it comes to big fish — she throws those big streamers at pretty much every opportunity.

Gotta love the natural sound on that video. After watching that I feel compelled to go practice my casting.

Hey Tom,
I am always hear. I keep pretty close tabs on your blog. Only find the need to post randomly, kind of the way my mind works. Keep up the good work.

Murdock,
You had better practice if you are going to be headed down this way. I’ll push you right out of the boat if you don’t.

Tom Chandler 07.30.08 at 10:49 am

Hell, push him out anyway.

Yeah…
I got shoved out of the way. Serves me right!
