I was lieing about the cattle prod bit.
They’d probably only use rubber bullets and chainsaws to keep the Underground’s unwashed, etiquette-free, largely male herd away from the 150 or so attractive fly fishing women participating in this Sunday’s Casting for Recovery fundraiser in Red Bluff.
Sunday’s event is geared toward women and men who would like to learn the art of fly fishing. The $150 ticket includes fly fishing gear, instruction, access to a shopping boutique and a full catered breakfast and lunch. The Clear Creek Sports Club offers several ponds where trophy fish lurk

Ok, technically, they will allow men in, though I’m sure they’d keep a close eye on the likes of the Undergrounders.
What the news blurb didn’t say was that those without gear get to keep the fly fishing outfit they’ll learn on (a call suggests it’s an Orvis Clearwater, a rod which I really liked in the 8.5′ length UPDATE: It’s an Amundson outfit from Canada).
Frankly, it’s starting to sound like a pretty good deal for beginners: gear, casting lessons, fish in stocked ponds, good lunch (apparently with a comedian for entertainment), and a worthy cause.
Know any beginners? Live near Red Bluff? Want to help a good cause? (The Underground’s cup runneth over.)
See you Sunday, Tom Chandler.

Cattle prods…
Yes…
Good idea.
We didn’t think of that. I’ll run down to the ranch supply store and pick up a couple before Sunday’s event. Thanks Tom, that’s the kind of forward thinking I’ve come to appreciate from the Underground.

I have got to start wearing my glasses-At first glance I thought the post was “Fly girls gathering in the buff this weekend.”
That would have been a very interesting fundraiser and a bargain at $150. Good thing I finished reading the post before ordering plane tickets!
