The Underground has just breathlessly learned that fashion house Chanel is offering a Chanel fly rod (and matching monochromatic flies in black quilted case) for… $18,000.
From the Guardian:
For a mere £9,170 the ponciest angler on the planet can kit himself out with a Chanel rod and a set of meticulously tied, monochrome Chanel flies, complete with the famous “double C” logo on the gossamer wings, presented in a rather fetching, quilted black leather box.
No doubt the Undergrounders are already whipping out their credit cards and firing up their browsers, hoping to score heavy with the untold numbers of fashion-conscious trout in our rivers.
Sadly, I have no idea where you can buy your very own Chanel fly rod, though I’m guessing I won’t be receiving one for field testing. Life, it seems, is often hard.
I myself will pass on the fly rod (I already fish bamboo after all) and will wait (with a childlike anticipation) for the jewel-encrusted landing net.
See you on Rodeo Drive, Tom Chandler.

I suppose I should just drive north and hurt you. “Flyfishing is soo this year..” it’s fingernails on chalkboard, amplified.
Get better, I wouldn’t want you to claim infirmity … I’m planning on driving truck over your bamboo collection six of seven times.

Alistair; What, it can’t cost more than a couple thousand to fly out here, right? Cheap at twice the price… 8-)
