Canoes are lovely craft (witness our love affair with the Grand Lake Canoe), and at the Underground, we’re all about supporting craftsmen, but that doesn’t mean we don’t occasionally scratch our heads when we read about something like this:

Hell, we’d laugh, but the 13’4", 66 pound canoe looks pretty good. Still, what’s next, Undergrounders? Oil tankers built from plastic spoons? The spork speedboat?

Technically, the thing should be about as durable as you can get, eclipsing fiberglass in strength. Chopstick Boat is a damn fine idea! I wonder if the Oars are chopsticks or soup ladles? This gives new life to the moniker “Rice Burners” coined in WW II to describe the Japanese planes and recently adapted to Japanese fast cars and “sliding”.
…and once you get to your destination you can take it apart and make a Chopstick Fly Rod! NICE!
