13 Foot Long Trout "Landed" in Santa Rosa

A 13-foot-tall rainbow trout sculpture leaps along the Santa Rosa Avenue entrance to Prince Greenway Park Sunday afternoon as the artists and workers install the mosaic-covered, steel-frame, ferrocement piece created by artists Dan Obertie, Mario Uribe and Art Start student artists. Finishing touches may take another week to complete.   image

Alert Underground Reader Alastair stumbled on this; it looks like the trout from the Trout Unlimited Logo was reversed, fabricated in concrete, and placed in Santa Rosa. (Landed, get it? I slay me…)

Still, those lucky Santa Rosa fly fishermen now have a target worth casting at — fling a bit of yarn into this guy’s mouth, and casting at hoops will never seem as interesting again.

See you in the park, Tom Chandler.

It is very skinny as eric said, looks like a open season trout, very hungry and will take almost all the flies from your box.

    - is a trout.

It’s been on the valley road out of Rio Grande town, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina since construction (out of concrete)in the mid 1990s. It’s might not be particularly pretty, but it’s definitely BIG.
