hi guys my hobbies is fishing I am 12 years old and My taimen record is 1.20 meter its amazing fish 1.20 meter taime nits very strong its takes 3 hour too get out i take that fish in egg river my father s hobbie is fishing too my fathers record of taimen is 1.50 meter my father is take out 3 hour too I know mongoliuan all fish my wish is take 1.50 meter taimen I take that taimen in night with rat. I’m with Guido on this one. I really don’t understand why AEG is generating so much hype (undeserved, IMNSHO). I’ve watched all of their videos and the first time I saw them I liked them, the second time I thought “huh, where’s the beef?” and by the third time I was totally bored. I get the feeling that they’re trying to fund their “fishing fantasies” with my hard earned dollars. Lotsa fish porn, but not much depth and content.

Guido: Thanks for posting your experience. I confined my review to the video DVD, but it’s interesting to hear a review from the tour itself.

Seems to be no shortage of opinion about the AEG guys; each review generates a couple emails either likening them to the second coming or painting them in somewhat less flattering terms.

Probably be a pretty juicy conversation should I ever get time to write the post.

I gotta tell ya…
I went to the AEG FLY FISH FILM TOUR when they came to Sacramento and can honestly say they’ll never see another dollar of mine. All we got for our $15.00 was nothing but sponsor ads and extended trailers for all the videos they wanted to sell you. It’s all about the money you know. They also beat the Bristol Bay/ mine deal to death! A 5 min. spiel on that subject was all I needed to hear. Not over and over again. My bud & I got so fed up with them, that we finally walked out about an hour and 15 min. into it. Gimme Kurt and those guys anytime. Thanks all. I needed to get that off my chest.

Rick: Palin would drive an interesting fly fishing film — made all the more interesting for his lampooning of the sport itself.

As for Wulff & Gowdy, I think there’s something to be said for the quality of the old stuff (and I grew up on the American Sportsman). Still, I have to say the fly fishing video genre had grown a little stale, and while AEG’s claim that they’re “Reinvigorating fly fishing” is overblown, I will say the “new wave” is making some interesting things happen.

I’ve considered writing an opinion piece about this stuff, and opening it up to the Undergrounders.

Hey Tom,

I think you’ve figured out your missing hook for your Bluegill film. Palin and his Python friends could really bring some flavor to the project.

Haven’t seen the Mongolian Adventure, but much of the new stuff leaves me disinterested. I know the days of Mr. Wulff and Mr. Gowdy are long behind us, but there was a more inclusive, wish you were here feel to their films.
