Damn. It’s Supposed to be Spring. SPRING!

lateaprilsnow

Two inches already, and it’s still swirling around like a well-shaken snow globe.

Gotta love spring, Undergrounders. You gotta.

Aaaaaah…Hahahahahahahahahaha. Finally! After looking at all that great trout water up north for so long, after having my nose rubbed in it, after being reminded that I’m a neanderthal fly fisherman, and that I don’t really know what trout fishing is all about, ’cause I don’t live near any good water…finally! Suffer, my man, suffer. You get no sympathy from me.

I’m just beside myself with grief. I need a parka to BBQ, a snow shovel to get to work and water temps are too low to make my version of flyfishing easy. And now I see your deck is white just like mine…

    Oh, the humanity!!

Come on over to northern MN, my friend. Temps in the 60’s and we just got of the lake for our first paddle of the season. I think tomorrow I’ll wear shorts and show off my pasty white legs!

Kentucky Jim was most eloquent, I’ll resist the urge to pile on..

Ha! My clever ruse worked. It’s actually 85 degrees and we’re drinking rum concoctions from hollowed out pineapples.

The snow was cleverly Photoshopped into the picture so the Undergrounders would head somewhere else for the opener.

p.s. — charcoal is just better.

You are correct. Burn it to earn it.

And how long does it take for a charcoal BBQ to be ready for BBQing? Versus 10 minutes MAX for a gas grill.

What happens if the heat starts to decline with a charcoal BBQ while you’re cooking something? You literally have to start over from ground zero. This is not an issue with a gas grill.

If you run out of propane while cooking with a gas grill, not a problem. Just unhook the empty tank and hook up the full spare one and you’re back in business within a few minutes.

I used to have one of those weber charcoal BBQ’s but then upgraded to a gas grill and never looked back. Once you start cooking with a gas grill you’ll never want to go back to charcoal…….

Heddon17: You and me. Weed. Noon. Shotguns (firing charcoal).

Happily, I can fire up the two-person ration of charcoal and get it spread in just under twenty minutes, which isn’t much of atime penalty to pay for that roasted flavor.

And this model Weber has the hinged wings on the grate, so I can add more charcoal as needed (which I do when slow-cooking the big stuff).

I’ve slow-cooked 25 pound turkeys and 7 pound roasts in the thing, and once cooked my famous maple-glazed salmon in front of a restaurant for better than six hours — with no real problems.

And yes, chicks dig charcoal grills. They do. Really.

Heddon17, no disrespect, but you obviously have not mastered the art of charcoal grilling… Never have I had a charcoal grill go out on me. Its all in the prep.
The taste alone is worth the time and labor that it takes to us charcoal, plus you get time to throw a few beers back. Its like the difference between fly fishing and bait casting, or bow hunting versus firearm. Its how you get there and not how quick or easy.

    cheers~
