I'm not really sure about the number. Decendents of the family are trying to get it declared a historic landmark (thus not takeable downable). Caltrout is, or was, working on this project. By the way Tom, when is the house cleaning at Donny Beaver's digs being advertised on Craigslist????? Just a clarification on the dam note. If I'm not mistaken, the Army Corps of Engineers has signed off on taking down the Matilija dam near Ojai, California, good news for the few southern Steelhead that still try to spawn in that river. On the other hand, the Rindge dam in Malibu, although silted over and useless for the last 30 years or so, has not been officially declared dead. Malibu creek used to host up to 1000 or more steelhead. Clark Gable and Spencer Tracey used to go for 'em in between movie shoots, it is said. Beleive it or not, there are still about 50 southern steelhead that try to make their way up that stream.
