It’s Outdoor Survival Week at the Underground

I seem to be going through a "pulp" survival phase, so in the interest of "anything worth doing is worth overdoing" — I’m steering you towards Survival Topics: an interesting site jammed with outdoor survival tips.

Found via the always-interesting Two-Heel Drive, the Survival Topics Web site includes handy information like how to make your own waterproof matches, how long you can live without food (I can go upwards of 45 minutes, but I’m tougher than most), and for those bumbling idiots who fall in the water — how to make emergency socks.

Sadly, I couldn’t find a single testosterone-laced article explaining how to fight a bear armed with only your wits and a toothpick, but aside from that shortcoming (they say falls and drowning are the top wilderness killers, which pretty much sucks the life out of our whole pulp outdoors theme) it’s a handy site, and worth a bookmark.

This looks handy for the vest or man purse, but I hope I have enough flies to where I wouldn’t need the hook and line.
