Today’s Snooty Trout-Related Literary Reference
By Tom Chandler on Mar 5, 2008 in Underground Entertainment
It’s not as if I try to appear all snooty and literary all the time, it’s just that I’m so damned intelligent, I can’t help it.
Today’s obscure literary reference is about a just released book of love poems, and hell, we like the cover:
Sure, love poems might not rank high on the reading list for the Undergrounders, but it’s nice to see trout finning their way through the zeitgeist without an SUV commercial wrapped around them.
We’ll keep a close eye on this breaking poetry story.
[UPDATE: Killing Trout was just released ($14 +$2 shipping); mention the Trout Underground and receive a signed copy)
See you in the poetry section, Tom Chandler.

As I recall, Richard Brautigan’s “Trout Fishing In America” really had little to do with trout fishing. The girlfriend who gave me a copy didn’t really seem interested in fishing. Oh, sigh…What’s it all mean?

from my observations, trout and trout fishing pops up most often in Flowmax commercials

Brautigan is one of my personal favorites. Now, so is Fraser. The book has been released. And the first poem really is about fishing. Catch it for yourself. Mention that you read about it on the Trout Underground, and we’ll be sure to send a signed copy.

You had me at “Brautigan” — I just ordered my copy.
As for the rest of you, it wouldn’t hurt to broaden our reading horizons, and a few love poems could really pave the way with the better (much better) half.
Ms. Hill — you kids ready to publish my fly fishing essay book? You could very quickly lead the world in fly fishing related literary books…
