It is tough to balance everything out when trying to persuade politicians to do the right thing. Sometimes you have to take the gloves off and be blunt. We recently had an issue here in Florida with a company that sells bottled water. They wanted to pull several million gallons of water a day out of the St. Johns river. They tried to say that there would be zero environmental impact. Local politicians even jumped on their band wagon. Needless to say the plan did not fly. But, to say that pulling millions of gallons out of a river, even the size of the St. johns, would have no environmental is patently silly.

Good job in taking off the gloves. Sometimes it just has to be done.

Hope you got a copy of my email to the
supervisors of Siskiyou. Got bounced back
once so I resent (that’s re-sent) it.
To more important topics, I was up your
way, well the Pit is up your way in my book,
and did very well on bwo’s. Bright, sunny,
no matter, last Sun/Mon the hatch would
seem to start about 1-2ish, emergers
were the main appetizer in a blue/grey or
tan/grey, served in a size 20. Once the
main course was being served, the appetizers
went quick, lots of spinners about for the
real meat and potatoes. A drowned tanish
#20 spinner was good til desert.

Thanks Salty. We’re up close to 70 emails (that’s in 1.5 days) so 100 by Monday midday is plenty doable.

Right now, I’m going fishing. It’s cloudy and drippy — perfect BWO weather — so I’m going to try and wash the smell of this mess off me.

Alex: I have. Last time I posted in a few of the forums, though the results were mixed.

Still, the culprit is time. This whole mess has put me behind on a couple projects (it’s ironic that the Supervisors are paid to screw up the county while we’re tasked with fixing it for free), and I’m probably going to miss a Friday afternoon client deadline.

Maybe get to one or two this weekend.

Well, I sent an email and was, I trust, polite. I think it is helpful to let the Supervisors know that a rather large National spotlight is on them. After all, this is an attack on one of our oldest principles, the right to fish, fowl, and navigate navigable waters – all Americans are affected by this action, not just those who fish “the rivers of Siskiyou County” (a movie is probably in the making).
