Steve Rajeff Interview

by Tom Chandler on October 18, 2007 · 10 comments

I’m no distance caster — and feel that way too much is made of the ability to cast an entire fly line. (Macho posturing, anyone?) But like most people, I find competitive casting — and the people who compete — interesting as hell.

That’s why this on-camera interview with 36-time champion caster Steve Rajeff caught my eye. Sadly, my lack of broadband means I haven’t seen it yet, but hell, I thought you might want to.

Post your comments about the interview below (If it truly sucks, let me know so I don’t waste my time like you just did.)

See you on the casting pond, Tom Chandler.

People who say that the ability to cast an entire flyline is just macho posturing probably drive little foreign cars instead of SUV’s, have small units and can’t shotgun a beer either.  (Quote)

Well, I’ve got broadband – but the video is downloading at less than 1KB/second – the dialogue says the video download will be complete sometime tomorrow.

Too bad – I would have liked to have seen the interview.  (Quote)

Captain: I’ll remember you said that next time I’m driving to the river in my Bronco (specially modified to accommodate my huge maleness) and shotgunning cheap beers.

Ian: Are you downloading the Quicktime version? I heard there are some server problems. If so, try the Windows Media version (if possible).

When AT&T pulls it collective head out of its ass and finally gets my broadband going, I’ll check it myself.  (Quote)

I tried the Windows version first – then cancelled that and found the Quicktime version to be much faster.

It really is a very interesting interview, Tom. Good to hear someone dispel some myths about rods, ratings, and line weights.  (Quote)

Its a pretty good interview. I enjoyed it, though I have to say I have met Joe a few times. He is an excellent speaker in his own right.

Its worth the time to download and view.

You are just jealous you cant cast a full line with your one hand tied behind your back like I can. When your casting weaknesses improve your opinion will change!  (Quote)

Ha! The new yard has a decided downhill tilt, so cast a full line will probably be a snap.  (Quote)
