Bamboo Surfboards by Altarnative Technologies

I don’t know how much sense a bamboo surfboard actually makes, but you gotta admit, it seems like a totally cool money-making concept. Bamboo fly rods are still the most stylish way to catch trout; could there be a more stylish way to ride a wave?

Obviously not.

In fact, I can see Paradise now: I’d put on my bamboo beach shorts, hop on my bamboo bike, grab my bamboo surfboard and my bamboo fly rod for the surf, ride to the beach, flex my rippling abs, lay back on my bamboo beach mat, and let the babes flock to me.

Bamboo — because chicks dig it.

    Tom,

As a chef and connoseur, er, connasower, uh, cognoscenter; aw heck, a devotee of all things good with food, I found bamboo a long time ago. Did you know that bamboo can be made harder than oak? Lighter than cork? More durable than plastic? (Well, not some plastics. Like those ugly flamingos on the neighbor’s lawn.)

I use bamboo plates for sushi and other Asian dishes, and I have cutting boards of laminated bamboo that are very nice. I also prefer bamboo chopsticks when I can get them.

In fact, I hardly ever drop a stitch with those suckers…

Bamboo; it’s not just for fly rods anymore. Right now it’s the sustainability crowd’s darling, but we’ll see how it holds up over time.

    Dear Chili Doctor…

I’ll have you know that plastic Flamingos are considered ’slob art.’
I looked long and hard for mine! AND paid a pretty penny for a mating pair. The neighbors love ‘em! I just know it.
Still no chicks yet…damn. Another get rich quick scheme gone haywire, but I’m not giving up on them!

    Mike
