Upper Sacramento River Cleanup This Saturday: Don’t Forget to Wash Behind Its Ears
By Tom Chandler on Sep 13, 2007 in News, Upper Sacramento
The Upper Sacramento’s fishing kinda slow right now, so you might as well clean the thing up and hope for better hatches soon.
Hell, we’re even talking free lunch and valuable prizes — courtesy the Upper Sacramento River Exchange, who are hosting the event. From the Mount Shasta Herald:
The cleanup event will begin at 9 a.m. with cleanup registration at the River Exchange located at 5819 Sacramento Ave. A free barbecue lunch will be provided by the Dunsmuir Lions for all volunteers from noon to 2 p.m. at the Dunsmuir City Park.
This event is sponsored by Businesses That Care. The cleanup provides a wonderful opportunity to pitch in with friends and model river stewardship to children, River Exchange program director and event coordinator Vince Cloward said. Kids really get into collecting the trash and it doesn’t hurt that there are some wonderful golden rock prizes to reward them for their efforts.
Look at that — clean up the river, and done in time to hit the evening hatch (provided you can find one). Is it me, or has the Trout Underground done yet another thing to make your life more fulfilling?
We think so too.
