Sully Taunts Underground With Pic of Huge Brookie
By Tom Chandler on Sep 6, 2007 in Underground Entertainment
Those who have read my “The Myth of the Fishing Buddy” essay know of my suspicions about my “fishing buddies.” They’re your best friend when a beer or the hot fly hangs in the balance, but show even a hint of weakness and they’re on you like a pack of starved hyenas.
Here, the Underground’s Montana Correspondent and Chief Photographic Fish Taunter Sully — knowing my love of all things Brookie – taunts me with a picture of his friend holding a big, big Brook Trout.
Sully might as well be slapping me across the face with this big, big Brook trout.
He’s fully aware that the image of the Giant, Highly Desirable Char would gnaw at the very core of my being, leading to madness (and even blogging).
Still, proving that karma is both swift and merciless, here’s a passage from Underground Fish Taunter Sully’s most recent trip e-mail:
Not always big fish and majestic vistas here. The recent trip to the Blackfoot Rez was an unmitigated disaster. Memorable mainly for crippling back pains and forest fire-necessitated road closures. That and dead grass brown tinted water. The word “deflate” connotes so many things. Low point of the whole trip was when a side wall exploded east of Browning. Sadly the blowout wasn’t that much worse than the rest of the trip.
Ha! Let this be a lesson to my “fishing buddies” — muck with the Underground, and you’re mucking with powers you can only dimly comprehend. Payback will be swift.
You may return to your everyday lives.
