Ian Rutter Goes Bluelining; Catches Brook Trout (the Bastard)
By Tom Chandler on Aug 19, 2007 in Fishing Report
It’s not as if I’m jealous or anything. It’s just that Ian did a little bluelining and wound up on a Brookie stream in the Smokies that he’d never fished. In fact, given the remote location — and the fact it was just opened for fishing a short time ago — I’d guess it hadn’t been fished much at all in recent times.
But I’m not jealous. No way.

Ian describes the shallow pools, the nearly impassable undergrowth, and the surprisingly sized Brookies, several of which approached the footlong mark — a monster in the Smokies.

This was one of the better fish landed — a 9.5″ fish that… yes, it’s official… made me jealous. Officially. I mean, look at the colors. Holy crap.
Next time I’m in Tennessee, I’m beating the location of this stream out of him. Count on it. See you at the Smoky Mountain National Park map, Tom Chandler.

I think I know where he was fishing…if I’m right, it certainly is remote - I’ll have to check it out sometime.

I’m revealing nothing, though that’s largely because I don’t know anything. It’s a recurring symptom…

Good Morning all,
On Monday headed up with Two very good friend’s to the high country, and fish a couple of mountain streams (one is a river just the head water’s) and the start of spring creek that was so beautiful (and so damn clear) that we never saw a fish but it didn’t mater. We did find fish at the next stream, wonderful Brown’s and our own Underground mascot the great Brook Trout. I was raining pretty good, but warm and Jim you could tell was getting tired (not that he would ever say give). This is one I want to take you to TC. This is one that in the meadows you don’t worry about stepping in cow pies just Elk droppings.
Now will you give us more of a revew on the new net, it really look interesting, but I am a sucker for wood fishing gear.
David
P.S. ya want me to do a hit on the guy that slammed the slaw dog?
