The flu is gone, but the aftereffects remain. My brain is operating as if wrapped in a dense, clinging fog, and while last night was good for eleven hours of sleep, I’m still yawning, and damnit, there are fish out there waiting to be caught (not to mention work waiting to be billed).
I’m moving like an arthritic sloth with a low blood sugar condition, but at least I’m moving, and though common sense says otherwise, I’m going fishing tonight. In the meantime, because my brain is operating in a fragmented, piecemeal fashion, that’s exactly the kind of post you get.
Poster Love :

Ripefish fires up his own personal Internet weirdness machine, and posts a parody of those awful corporate motivational posters. I’ll never look at hip waders the same way.
Gear Love
Fly fishers love gear, which is why most of us own way more than we could fish. If you absolutely need more, it looks like Orvis is blowing out a bunch of stuff, and some of the deals on saltwater fly rods are pretty impressive.
If your tastes run to the more ornate, stop by the TVA angler blog, where they posted a picture of an incredibly detailed reel seat for a fly rod. Too weird for my tastes, but then again, some people spend their time writing blogs, so who am I to judge?
Finally, from the Troutball Web site comes directions to tying the Bugger-Duck — a weighted streamer constructed of feathers, a hook… and duct tape. At least you won’t cry when you lose it.
Link Love
Lately I’ve been bombarded with link requests from new blogs and Web sites. My advice? Better to post some content that my readers might find interesting than simply gush (or in one case, threaten) why I should turn over my hard-earned readership to you.
That said, there are a couple interesting new entries out there:
This is Fly — the online magazine folks based in New York (pity them) — now have a This is Fly Blog.
Shallowfish is a new saltwater fishing site, though it’s not fly fishing specific.
High Sierra Trout is a new blog (only a few entries) based in Truckee. It’s too new to call either way, but we’ll keep an eye on it.
We’ve got plenty more coming (including some interesting, leftover Maine posts), and you’ll see it just as soon as I’m capable of writing a complete sentence. See you on the river, Tom Chandler.
