Here’s another in a line of Daily Good Deed posts, where I prevail upon the overpaid, massively disposable-income, I-eat-slaw-dogs-24-hours a day Undergrounders.
This one’s a fundraiser for the Upper Sacramento River Exchange. But they’re not asking for something from nothing.
This one’s all about a private fishing trip on the CalTrout fishing camp — that comfortable collection of small huts on a remote part of the Upper Sacramento (between Dunsmuir and Cantara).

Find five buddies, pony up, and fish your brains out. Click the image for a flyer (.pdf)
The deal? For $2,500 (divide that six ways), you get:
- Three days, and two nights on CalTrout private fishing camp (Sept. 14-16)
- All meals provided by fulltime camp host (who offers fishing help when available)
- Lodging in the camp huts
- Free selection of proven Upper Sacramento flies
- “History of the Upper Sac” presentation by the River Exchange
Sadly, no slaw dogs on the menu, though a smart fly fisher would bring his own. Otherwise, this is a sweet package; you get to sleep right on the river in comfortable huts, have your meals prepared for you by a camp host, and fish a part of the river that normally requires a lot of hiking to see.
Interested? Grab a few friends and contact the River Exchange.
They only have this one package available, so if you’re interested, don’t wait too long to call. Last year’s river package went in just a week.
Interested? Call the Upper Sacramento River Exchange 530.235.2012.

Whoops Tom. Change the River Exchange link to the .org…

I would be all over this but I am not sure I can get five more guys to do it. If anyone out there needs an extra guy or two for their group email me at greco.bruno@gmail.com
Thanks,
Bruno Greco

It would be a fun gig, and the fishing that time of year can be pretty good (though I’ll bet you’re looking at low water and picky fish by then).

Eric: I have no idea what you mean. Really. (History belongs to those who write it.)
