A week ago I posted news of a “triple matching grant” aimed at helping recover the hanging-by-a-thread McCloud Redband trout.
If you missed it, Orvis and the National Fish and Wildlife Federation would match your CalTrout donation dollar for dollar — so your $50 would triple to become $150 in the pocket of a McCloud Redband trout.

Hey buddy — can you spare a dime?
OK, we’re lying; the trout don’t see the money (and they’re notorious spenders anyway, buying candy, booze and cigars by the truckload), but they do see much improved habitat — and they gain a shot at recovery.
I beat on CalTrout because they didn’t have a donation page, but they’re a fast-moving bunch, and the Redband-specific donation page is now available on their Web site.
If you haven’t yet donated, take a second and do so onlie — even just a few bucks.
Because of the triple matching grant, you don’t have to be a spoiled hotel heiress to do some good — $25 bucks will go a long way.
It’s 100% certain that one of my movie ideas will become the next Hollywood blockbuster — enabling me to singlehandedly save the redband with my millions — but until that happens, a little bit from each of us will accomplish pretty much the same thing.
See you at the “Save the Redband” CalTrout page, Tom Chandler.

Hey there Tom!
Actually it is the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation with whom we are partnering in the match.
Thank you for bringing this to the Underground!

Orvis is really getting into this. You can save the redband and get an overpriced, er, collectors, rod
