Tomorrow I Fly Fish. My Readers Decide Where.

It’s been a long day. Tomorrow, however, I’m going fly fishing (at least in the afternoon).

Sure it’s hot. Sure — word is the Upper Sac’s hot bite cooled considerably over the weekend. But damnit, I have a duty to my readers, and I take that duty very, very seriously. (I fly fish for you, my friends. Never forget that.)

Besides, it’s time my readers were heard; welcome to the Trout Underground’s first-ever blog poll, where I ask a simple question: Where should I fish tomorrow?

You’ve got a handful of choices, but those of you who feel constrained by the list should feel free to add your alternate destinations to the comments below (they just won’t be counted).

Where Do I Fish Tomorrow?

Once again, we stomp the fly fishing world’s sacred cows with the first reader-directed fly fishing trip — and this despite the fact I plan to do as I damn well please (I said you’d be heard; I didn’t say I’d listen).

Vote away, Undergrounders. Polls close tomorrow am.

Thursday is your lucky day, Tom. I just received a cancellation here at the Mt. Eddy Bluegill Ranch so there is one rod opening tomorrow. You may need to act fast before it’s gobbled up.

Smallies, Lake Siskiyou, I will bring the boat….
Not that I am trying to influence the vote ;-)

That’s the Mt. Eddy Executive Bluegill Ranch. And that’s tempting indeed.

Or Sisikiyou. That’s good too. I’m waiting for the polls to close.

Dude, what’s the Mt. Eddy Bluegil Ranch - sounds pretty sweet. And, I apologize for the harsh vote - I’m just bitter because I ate it on my bike and I am currently out of commission. Good luck with the fisheses though!

    Aren’t you C3C yet?

The Bad News is that I will be arse deep in the Upper Sacramento tommorrow afternoon also.

If you see an oil slick punctuated by empty budweiser bottles, it will mean I am upstream of you.

A smart lad, such as yourself, would avoid the area entirely.

It’s noon, the race is tightening. I’m only an hour or two away from… something.

The temps are in the 90s today, which — believe me — is having an effect on my thinking.

Sorry TC, I’ve had to book that last spot at the MEBGR. Seems the little guys like the warm weather and will take a well presented dry fly.

We will be going live with the MEBGR web site soon, so stay tuned…

Damn! I was just Google-Talking Nancy to get your phone number. I decided it’s a little hot to go hiking in waders. Still, I’ll be around this weekend, assuming you’re not helicoptering anyone in, lattes in hand…

I’m sure you know how I voted!

Thanks to everyone for participating in the World Premiere of the Trout Underground World Internet Survey System — a spare-no-expense technology solution whereby I get to ask dumb questions and elicit odd answers from my readers.

    Isn’t the Internet grand?

And OK, the decision’s in; Steve Bertrand and I are going to see what’s happening with Lake Siskiyou’s smallmouth population.

Normally, I’d run for the river and it’s good dry fly fishing, but I had a feeling this was going to be the Year of the Crooked Path, at least on the fly fishing front.

The small stream? Alpine lake? Both could happen this weekend.

Thanks to everyone for participating, and I hope to post more fun surveys in the future. Suggestions are always appreciated.

p.s. — Kudos to those who chose answer #6.

You were wrong, but I appreciate the honesty…

I admit it. I chose #6. Sorry, it’s been a bad day at work.

    have fun fishing,

    I demand a recount!

Recount? The votes were tabulated by none other than Vanna White, whose veracity cannot be questioned. Cannot.

TC assisted the Mayor with the website for Dunsmuir, so he is part of the State of Jefferson - Tammany Hill Mob.

In short, he gets to vote as many times as Nestle does, therefore a recount is moot.

Ahh, the blows to my character. I’ve been impugned!

Sadly, my only contribution to the Dunsmuir site were a brace of photos provided gratis. Poor compensation for any comparison to Nestle.

    4wts at dawn it is…

    Hey Dave:
Sounds like a great idea, but it does not look good for this week-end. I am working Saturday and Monday, and the car is going in the shop for two days starting Tuesday.
Gotta get a new clutch and trannie rear seal ($$ ouch).

Dave: Much as I love to, Monday & Tuesday probably out. Unless I can talk Raine into dragging his boat up there.
