Great blog - I’ve (temporarily) exchanged the mountains for the beach and really enjoy your posts. I can live vicariously until I get back to Central Oregon (which I know isn’t your territory, but which was mine). Although I learned to fly-fish with my father and grandfather in various tributaries of the Feather River near Quincy every summer (so your pics are great because the terrain looks familiar).
I remember at least two train wrecks in the Dunsmuir area since maybe 1970, I think. Both as I recall simply annihilated all aquatic life in the river. So long as the rail is so close to the river I am afraid it is just a matter of waiting for it to happen again.
