Wow, That’s a Big One: A World Record Carp
By Tom Chandler on May 24, 2007 in News
Via Spluch comes news of a world-record carp.

From Spluch:
Angler Graham Slaughter shows off his record-breaking carp catch — the first in the world to weigh more than 40 kilos.
It took him 20 minutes to land the mirror carp, which tipped the scales at a whopping 40.188kg (6st 3lbs). Graham, 42, of Worksop, Notts, said: “To be first to break the elusive 40kg mark is a great feeling.”
Figure 2.2 pounds per kilo; that’s better than 88 pounds of carp. To celebrate, his friends threw him in the lake.
Not the prettiest fish I’ve ever seen, but congratulations to Graham. See you at the carp lake, Tom Chandler.

That has to be the UGLIEST fish I’ve ever seen…it makes a gar look stylish in comparison. I don’t see how that thing could swim.

I’m sorry, I think I will stay with trout even if they are smaller. That is one ugly fish.

That carp did not get that gut on a diet of other fish. I’ll bet the angler used Ben&Jerry’s “Phish Food” for bait.

Additional details have emerged to cast a taint on the alleged record…
It appears that an examination of the stomach contents found both a six pack of beer and a missing Nestle Corporation frogman.
The IGFA will be holding a hearing to determine whether either item was placed there by the angler.
For the record, this beast was caught using a Jalapeno Cheetos - lashed to a treble hook with red thread.

I want to go on record as saying I had nothing to do with the missing Nestle corporation frogman. The bloody neoprene gloves simply don’t fit my hands.
As for the Jalapeno Cheeto — was that the Cheeto Cripple, or the floating Cheeto nymph?
