In a stunning example of what happens when a fly fishing company actually reaches out to the blogosphere, we’re happy to tell the world that Orvis is once again funding Conservation Grants.

You have a conservation project? Want money for it? Orvis is giving the green stuff away:

Grants have generated as much as $100,000.00 for the receiving organization. Orvis features the organizations awarded in our catalogues and on our website. Customers are encouraged to donate to these organizations, then Orvis matched the amount up to a predetermined award. Contributions are usually matched AGAIN by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, pending their approval of the proposal.

If Trout Underground readers would like to apply, there is more information online at: http://www.orvis.com/detail.asp?subject=7&index=20

Please check out www.orvis.com/conservation to get an idea of what kind of proposals we fund.

There. That wasn’t so hard. They do something nice. We let the world know.

Wonder when the rest of the fly fishing industry will follow suit?

Theories about the industry’s blogo-phobia (as postulated by the Undergrounders) are welcomed in the comments section below.

See you at the blog, Tom Chandler.
