Too Small, Too Expensive, Too Crippled. Have They Created The Perfect $30,000 Tent for Fly Fishers?
By Tom Chandler on Mar 7, 2007 in News
The Ego Ventures blog brings us news of “Basecamp”–a small Airstream/Nissan/Kelty produced trailer that’s been in development for years and was supposed to change the face of the RV world.
Instead, what arrived was:
Introducing the all new Basecamp - about the same square footage and amenities as a tent, and all of the ambiance of a horse trailer - yours for the low low price of an SUV.
Sure, the cynical side of me wonders if–in the face of $700 waders–the overpriced Basecamp isn’t tailor-made for the fly fishing market, but that’s probably just late-in-the-day hostility speaking.
Any takers?

Uhm… yeah….. I can barely afford my house payment. Don’t think I’ll be investing in one of these.
Geared towards the fly fishing market? Sure… assuming the people in that market have an insane amount of disposable income.

I hear FEMA has some trailers they’re looking to get rid of.

I would love to see the set of directives for this trailer. Probably similar to these http://www.projectcartoon.com/create/

But if I hook this up to my Sclade, where will I tow my stylin’ Hyde?

While the sleeping quarters are cramped, the idea of lighting up the campground with 100 Watts per channel - Sense-A-Round, home theater is very compelling.
Methinks the lambent glow of the 54″ Plasma TV will keep the neighbors from sleeping at all ….and when coupled with the Cheerleader Porno soundtrack, the retired folks will flee the area in droves.
The twin gas turbine generators may be an issue, as the documentation is unclear as to whether they can be muffled.
