Fly Tiers of the World, Stop Licking Your Lips

By Tom Chandler 2/26/2007

An albino peacock? I've gotta think this baby would tie anbsp;lot ofnbsp;cream midges.

albino peacock

Found via the 37signals blognbsp;, this beauty would have to make an interesting source of fly tying material, even if its only real use is generating bragging rights.

"Sure, the Underground Midge Pupae is effective using everyday peacock, but the original--and mostnbsp; effective--version requires albino peacock. Of course, you have some, right?"

K. Williams, So could you spare some white tail feathers? TC can give you my mailing address. Got to admit the other colors sound appealing, too. Sully

The white peacock is just white, not albino. White cats are white cats, not albino. I raise peacocks - white, blue, teal etc. and they are very beautiful. The white ones have blue eyes.

The original "lactating emerger" patterns that TC (insists he) invented all require albino peacock. I used white marabou, but they dont appear to be as effective (if you hear TC tell it).

TC do you want some of the feathers? I have a very good source for them and have quite a few of them, also a very light tan, and a dark tan, and a brown. I can't remember what Katty called them, she has several of the birds. The albino feathers are being dyed to make a lot of diff. spay patterns now.

where is this peacock located - for a price I could probably 'acquire' one such albino peacock?! With the albino peacock secured, total fly fishing world dominance would be inevitable for the Underground. The profits generated from selling the product of such a fine bird would be enough to pay for any expansion the Underground might ever desire. How does $5K plus 15% of any profits sound?

When I was a kid the Denver Zoo had an albino peacock. Obviously lots of other fly tyers in the Mile High City had the same idea- never could lure him close to the fence.
