Bamboo: It’s Not Just For Fly Rods Any More
By Tom Chandler on Feb 13, 2007 in Opinion, Underground Entertainment
I’ve promised a review of the Jim Reams bamboo fly rod for a couple weeks now (yes, I just need to shoot a few pictures), but in the meantime, we’ve got something that should mollify even the most hardcore bamboo fanatic:
Bamboo Washcloth, Hand & Bath Towels from Lands’ End. (who knew Lands’ End had gotten so cool?)
Given the response to my earlier post about my bamboo pants (which by the way are damned comfortable), I just knew this would be a winner.
It looks like the Western world is finally discovering that bamboo is good for more than just high priced fly rods.
The best part of my bamboo pants?
I can stand in the middle of a crowded social setting wearing my stylish, comfortable bamboo pants and silently mock all those around me who fish graphite fly rods, showcasing their less-durable, less-eco-friendly polyester and cotton clothes.
Bamboo pants load and unload so organically - so much more smooooothly than those other garments - that every stride I take tells the world I’m a man to be reckoned with.
I’m Bond. James Bond.
The babes love ‘em. Other men envy them. Could the towels be any less status-enhancing?
Bamboo. It’s not just for fly rods anymore. You heard it at the Underground first (or second, doesn’t really matter).
