Not Enough Ranting on the Trout Underground? Read Fly Fish Northern California

The Fly Fishing NorCal Web site has clearly lost its grip on sanity; they’re running yet another Tom Chandler essay, this one titled: Is Fly Fishing Saving Itself… From Itself?
Given my recent string of <ahem> fly fishing rants, perhaps a better title would have been: Can Chandler Save Himself… From Himself?
Given the following lead, probably not:
In some circles, fly fishers are regarded as largely prickish snots with the bearing and arrogance of eighteenth century British Aristocrats – people who apply the adjective “lesser” to any fish outside of trout, and any fisher save those with feathers tied on their line.
It’s not true, but it’s true enough that a sizable portion of the fishing world believes it.
I go on to proclaim 2006 the “Year of the Carp.” Clearly, I’m on a roll.
Of course, while there, you could also learn to tie a pretty gorgeous CDC biot caddis.
In truth, Fly Fishing NorCal offers a lot of useful information - the kind someone bent on world domination should be writing, but clearly eschews in favor of the strangeness actually populating the Trout Underground.

I can tell you that CDC biot caddis is a spectacular pattern. In addition to working as a very effective caddis emerger it also makes for a great searching pattern late in the day come summer……well worth a place in everyones box. Harry, as you probably know, has some of the best tying tutorials around on his site.

Fly fishermen snotty??? Well you can tell those mouth breathing rednecks to kiss my caddis! I’ll give them a piece of my mind when I’m done with my scotch. Oh.. wait, I only see them on the river when the Salmon are in!!! And they obviously do not live around me (and I don’t dare go to thier neighborhood). Oh well, maybe I’ll see them at the Grocery store, (you can identify them by thier food stamps). Just kiddin’, kinda.
